24 hours before your session using Tan Organic
Skin regulates itself in cycles naturally every 28 days. 25% of skin is exfoliated each week causing a UV tan to slowly wear away. Sunless tans affect only the top 25% of skin, so you will need to remove this extra skin prior to tanning.
Remove any dead skin cells that will prevent the absorption of DHA bronzers into fresh healthy skin cells. This allows TanOrganic to absorb deeply into the skin and oxidise to a brilliant golden brown colour. Applying TanOrganic on dry flaky skin may cause the tan to look less natural and possibly uneven when fading while shortening the life of your sunless tan. For exfoliation of extremely dead, dry skin cells use the exfoliation process.
First use an exfoliating scrub for a deep exfoliation and skin treatment 24 hours before applying TanOrganic. This provides a thorough, deep skin exfoliation to nourish and moisturise your skin.
Avoid using soap bars with high pH shower products or in shower moisturisers. These products can halt the DNA bronzing reaction or cause the dreaded “orange effect”. Any waxing should be done no less than 2 days before your tanning application.
Increased body temperature, perspiration or moisture on the skin hinders the DHA development.
At home application
Using the TanOrganic mitt, apply TanOrganic lotion to the mit. Apply liberally in circular movements for an even application and blend in well under the arms. If you have excessively dry knees or elbows it is advisable to apply a small amount of moisturiser to these areas to prevent a dark build-up of tan.
Avoid sweating. Avoid activities that may cause you to sweat excessively and possibly cause streaking. Use the air conditioner in your car on a hot day.
Avoid water entirely for at least 4 hours or you will stop the tanning action of the DHA and it could cause streaking. Avoid swimming pools and Spas. Avoid chemically treated swimming pools for at least 24 hours.
Wait to shower for maximum results, wait at least 8 hours before showering or bathing. Preferably wait until the following morning. Bathe with plain water only for the first 16 hours to avoid fading of instant tan.
After tanning treatment it is recommended that you use shower products with a pH of 5.5. Avoid using soap bars or high pH products they will strip and fade your tan rapidly. Use hydrating and moisturising products with the same pH as your skin. Proper cleansing insures even fading and the longest lasting most natural looking sunless results. After showering, gently “pat dry” your skin.
Maintenance – between treatments
Use lots of moisturisers. Use a daily moisturiser or body oil application.
